Business consulting that doesn't waste your Tuesday

Most owners already know something is off. Revenue plateaus, margins thin out, good people leave. We help mid-market firms in England figure out exactly where the drag is, then fix it, usually within a single quarter.

Four weeks from diagnosis to action

Week one: the honest audit

We sit with your leadership team, your finance stack and your customer data. No questionnaires mailed in advance. We read your P&L line by line and interview the five people closest to daily operations. By Friday you get a written brief that names the three biggest profit leaks.

Week two: root-cause mapping

Each leak gets traced to its source. Sometimes it is a pricing model that hasn't been reviewed since 2019. Sometimes it is a reporting gap between sales and fulfilment. We map dependencies so the fix doesn't create a new problem somewhere else.

Week three: build the plan

You receive a 90-day action plan. Every task has an owner, a deadline and a measurable outcome. We don't hand you a 60-slide deck and disappear. The plan fits on two pages because your managers need to actually read it.

Week four onward: execute together

We stay embedded for the first execution cycle. Fortnightly check-ins, real-time adjustments, direct access to our senior consultants by phone. When the 90 days end, your team owns the process entirely.

What we actually do

We focus on four areas where mid-market firms lose the most money or miss the most opportunity.

Operational efficiency reviews

We map your workflows from order intake to delivery and find where time, money or quality leaks out. Typical engagement length: six weeks. Most clients recover the consulting fee within the first quarter through waste reduction alone.

Pricing and margin strategy

Many firms price by gut or by competitor. We build margin models per product line, segment and channel. One manufacturing client raised gross margin by 4.2 percentage points after a single pricing restructure.

Leadership and team alignment

Growth stalls when the senior team pulls in different directions. We facilitate structured planning sessions, define decision rights and install a monthly rhythm that keeps everyone accountable without adding meetings for the sake of it.

Exit readiness and succession planning

If you plan to sell, retire or hand the business to a family member within the next three to five years, preparation now determines the price later. We work with your accountant and solicitor to identify value gaps, clean up owner dependencies and build a management layer that a buyer can trust. This is not a quick-fix service: it runs 12 to 18 months, but clients who complete it typically achieve sale multiples 0.8 to 1.5 turns higher than peers who skip preparation.

Common questions

Our diagnostic phase (weeks one through four) is a fixed fee of £8,500 plus VAT. Ongoing implementation support is priced monthly based on scope. We quote a ceiling figure before work starts, and we have never exceeded one.
Rarely. Our methods work best for firms with at least £1m in annual revenue and an established team. Pre-revenue ventures need a different kind of support, and we would rather be honest about that upfront.
Professional services, light manufacturing, distribution and specialist retail make up about 80% of our client base. The operational principles transfer well across sectors; what changes is the benchmarking data we use. If your industry is outside our experience, we will tell you on the first call.
The diagnostic week is always on-site. You cannot audit a business through a screen. After that, most of the implementation support happens via video calls, shared dashboards and a fortnightly in-person review. Clients outside England may require adjusted travel arrangements, which we discuss during scoping.
We offer a full refund on the diagnostic if you feel the findings lack substance. In eight years, two clients have taken us up on that. Both later re-engaged for a different scope. The refund policy exists because we genuinely believe the audit pays for itself in the first recommendation alone.
